Chilly Willy Run 2018

New Year's Day 1st January 2018

It was a bit wet when we were at the Golden Cross before setting out on the Chilly Willy Run but as we toured the local countryside the skies cleared and the sun shone when we arrived in Upton Snodsbury for lunch. It was great to see so many MGs come out to play in the middle of the winter.

Chilly Willy Run 2017

New Year's Day 1st January 2017

Despite the heavy rain falling there was a very good turnout of 29 cars for the run, comprising 17 MGs & 2 classic cars. Many people enjoyed a cup of coffee or the full English (for only £2.99) before we set off on the 26 miles scenic runover to the Golden Cross and there were no reports of anyone getting lost.

Lunch was a little delayed waiting for everyone to get settled but the food was good.  It was again good to welcome 9 or 10 cars from the other natters in the area.

As the weather and visability was so bad there was a suggestion that we should do the run again later in the year, which sounds like a good idea to me.  In the mean time here are some photos of the day (many thanks to Graham Robson for taking on the task of photographer for the day).

 Chilly Willy Run 2016

New Year's Day 1st January 2016

The best turn-out for a Chilly Willy Run we have had with 34 cars in the car park at The Golden Cross, ready for the social run across to the Fish & Anchor in Luffenham.  Most people tucked into the bacon rolls and coffee at the Cross before getting their route sheets for the 23 mile drive to Luffenham.

The Fish & Anchor had reserved the whole restaurant for us but even then we overflowed into the bar area.  There was a bit of a problem with the food service but there were no real complains when we found out they had blown a 100Amp fuse in the kitchen, so it was very difficult to keep the food hot whilst serving but everyone got their food eventually, very good it was too.

Here are a selection of photos of the day:

Chilly Willy Run 2015

New Year's Day, Thursday 1st January 2015

31 cars assembled at the Golden Cross to start 2015 with Bacon rolls and a 'Social Run' through the lesser known lanes of Warwickshire & Worcestershire.  The destination was the Country Girl pub near Hanbury where the landlord had set aside the whole pub for us.  Many of us enjoyed a pleasant meal on the 2 for £10 lunch menu.  much as I would like to I cannot take credit for the display of vintage lorries and tractors that stopped us on route and a fine site they made on their News Year's Day run.

Chilly Willy Run 2014

1st January

17 cars made it to the Golden Cross for the Bacon Rolls before braving the heavy rain to set of for Batsford Arboretum. We had the Bistro pretty much to ourselves.

It was great to see 8 MGs turn up for the run including an MG TF Midget.
